Information for College/Business Days:
College/Business Days are the responsibility of the student and parents. Juniors will be allowed one (1) college/business day visit and seniors will be allowed (2) college/business day visits. These visits may be used to visit a college campus, college placement testing or advising appointments, job shadowing, or job interviews. Students taking visits for military entrance purposes will be excused additional days as long as proper documentation is received. The Guidance Office can assist in providing contact information for students and parents who wish to schedule visits. Administrative discretion may be used in excusing multiple days of absence when traveling long distances for college visits When a college day is being requested, parents/guardians should follow attendance procedures for absences, but should state in the phone message or email that the student is taking a college/business day. In order for the day to be excused as a college/business day, upon returning to school, students must provide written verification to the ECHS office from the college/business. This may be in the form of a written statement with signature, a detailed agenda of the day for college visits, or a copy of placement test results or student schedule as long as the date is clearly visible on the document. An email sent to [email protected] from the college/business is also acceptable as long as it states the student name, the day, and the time of the visit. The following are not accepted as proper documentation: T shirts or other college merchandise, business cards, folders without a visit agenda. College/Business visits and the corresponding approved absences will not count toward the semester exam exemption policy.
